Honeymoon Review

Hey Friends,

I am quickly realizing that the world of blogging may not be for me. I do not have much to say and when I do it takes me too dang long to get motivated to post it. So enjoy this while it lasts.

Finally, a few shots from the honeymoon...

View from the room.

The pool was nice, except for the lurker.

Happy hour at 10 am.

Boat cruise...with lots of kids...and lots of drinks!

Keith stole the show with his moves that evening. six drinks down and two competitons won!

updates

Hi everyone, it's been quite awhile. It's almost 2010 and I've decided my new years goal is to keep everyone up to date on the lives of the Hendrens... especially since I'm still not an avid Facebooker. Here's a quick recap- Wedding was amazing, honeymoon was hot as hell, didn't find a house to buy but got a sweet apartment, living the dream... We'll post a recap of the past 5 months for you very soon. Until then, enjoy some of the wedding photos!!

Merry christmas from the Hendren's!

HIIIIIIIIIIIIII. We're back.

St. Joe Events

Here's a quick update on some St. Joe events around the wedding weekend!

Field Failures

We have early reports that some of the invitations may be experiencing catastrophic failure in delivery.  While we consider a full recall, here are some alternative uses for the broken wood:

1. toothpicks
2. kindling
3. door stops

Seriously, hope your invitation arrives intact.  Please use gloves and goggles when opening!

Details, Details

Three special notes:

1. The Safari Joes reservations (for both Friday and Saturday nights) have to be relinquished by June 24th , so if you'd like to stay there, please reserve soon.  We checked it out last weekend... very close to the venue.

2. Venue:  There are no booster seats or high chairs available at our venue, so little tykes will be on the lap.

3. Dress Attire:  July in Michigan translates hot and humid.  Dressy casual, but no suits required (unless you like the Tom Cruise-in-Rainman look)

Invites

Hello all--We've finally shipped out the invitations!  A few photos of the process are attached; much love to Keith's folks for helping crank them all out.

Hotel Information

While we're trying to provide some housing for those that have flown in, it would be a little snug to fit 150 of us all in.  That said, here are some local hotel options, for those that haven't already been contacted about the other housing:

COURTYARD MARRIOT--ST. JOSEPH/BENTON HARBOR
Phone: 269-925-3000
Rates: Around $150 for King size reserved, or 2-double bed
* Part of the Walker/Hendren Wedding Party

Comments:  This is a nicer hotel, and close to town, but further from the wedding venue.  It is also several miles from the house that we will be meeting up at together for the weekend.

SAFARI JOES-RAMADA HOTEL--WATERVLIET, MI
Phone: 269-463-7946
Rates:  Room is 109, or 179 with water park passes (rooms have 2 queen beds)
* Part of the Walker/Hendren Wedding Party

Comments:  If you book this hotel, be ready for anything!  The rooms are nice, but the hotel lobby and decorating take the safari theme very seriously.   You've been warned.  This is Very close to the wedding venue, and it provides a shuttle to the venue.  It is also several miles from the house where we will be meeting up.

More en route info

Alright folks, sorry for the lengthy repose.  We're back.  Turns out a lot of people are looking at going through Chicago, which is well and fine.  Here are two options for trains out of Chicago, closer to us and the venue:

Union Station to St. Joseph:  Under 2 hours, costs $17.  There aren't that many time options, but it gets you right where you want to go.

Union Station to South Bend, IN:  1.5 hours, more expensive.  There are quite a few options for the train ride, but you might have to hang out in South Bend until we can arrange pick ups/drop offs (this is about 40 minutes from St. Joseph)

Here's the link to Amtrak, if this option sounds interesting to you:

Location

So where's the shindig, you may be asking?    The ceremony will take place in a little place called Watervliet, MI.  Up until the ceremony, we'll all be hanging out in St. Joseph, MI, which is about 15 minutes away, and right on lake Michigan.  Here's a list of five airports in the surrounding area and the associated driving times to St. Joseph:

O'Hare, IL (2 hrs 7 min)
Midway, IL (1 hr 54 min)
Grand Rapids, MI (1 hr 31 min)
Kalamazoo, MI (53 min)
South Bend, IN (43 min)

For most people, it will probably be cheapest to fly into O'Hare or Midway, but it's worth checking all five.  When booking, you might want to check out www.Kayak.com , it's great for comparing prices.  Well, that's all for now.  We're very excited to be seeing you all soon, and barn dancing up a storm together.

Save the Date

Alright everyone... if you're here, than you probably got
something in the mail that looks like this (see below).
The shot is from Hyde Park on our recent trip to London and
then on to Italy.  Contrary to appearances, we are excited
to get married.  Very excited.  Details to follow soon.
